Vlasta's Plum Dumplings

On my first to Prague Vlasta made these awesome fruit dumplings.  The experts had four each whilst I could only manage three.

The recipe below is from Czech It Out web site.  Try to contact for permission to use but the Guestbook failed to work.

Also tried e-mailing and received a postmaster returned - address unknown.

Kinute Knedlicky (Raised dumplings)

  • 1 lb flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • For yeast: 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 oz. yeast
Sift flour, ad sugar, crumbled yeast and 1/2 cup lukewarm milk. Let set until yeast bubbles up. Add 1 tablespoon salt, egg, yolk and mix until dough is smooth. Let dough raise. Divide into dumplings, size of large oranges, place into pot of boiling water. Cook 10 minutes, turn over and cook another 10 minutes. Alway cut raised dumplings with a string.
